12/12/2007 - Karen knew that I always wanted a 4th generation fbody, so she decided that I can purchase one. After looking around and bidding on different Trans Am's, I found this 1993 Formula with a bad paint job and wore out fuel pump. The car was purchased for $1280 on Ebay on 09/14/2007. It was a week later that we took our anniversary weekend and made a trip to Shenandoah, VA (Over 10 hours). We trailered and brought the car back home. Although we did have some trouble getting it home as a tire blew out on the trailer.
Once we got it home, I put a battery on it and attempted to start it. It tried to run, but the fuel pump was bad. Shane put a new fuel pump in it and it fired right up. A few injectors were not firing, so I rounded some up from some fbody club members (which I appreciate so much). The car purred like a kitten. Then Shane changed all the fluids for me and I drove it home. I found out that the 373 had a loud whining noise to it and the speedomemter was off. I changed the speedo gears to get it right. Then I painted it gloss black
It turned out great. I later changed out the single exhaust pipe and placed stock dual muffler back on it. But I was still bothered with the fact that the rear-end was whining so much. After taking it to the shop, it was determined that the carrier needed to be changed. I recently ordered a new carrier, 3.42:1 ring/pinion, and driven gear to match. Now all I need is to purchase a $120 ring/pinion installation kit with bearings and it'll be ready for the road. I plan to sell the Grand Am and replace it with this car to goto work in.
It has a nice sound system (10 speaker) and rides better than the Grand Am, so I planned to sell the Grand Am the beginning of 2008.
